Welcome

The Kal City Centre is a multi-million dollar project which aims to transform major precincts within the Kalgoorlie Central Business District into vibrant, economically strong, and diverse spaces.

In 2023, the project saw the transformation of Kalgoorlie's St Barbara’s Square into a welcoming urban space for families, locals, businesses, and visitors to the City, bringing Kalgoorlie's CDB to life.

Key features of the new precinct

Stretching from Hannan Street at St Barbara’s Square to the rear of the Market Arcade, the rejuvenated precinct features a beautiful outdoor play area including water play, night lighting and CCTV, modern paving and street furniture, gardens, stage and entertainment areas.

The Square is home to the St Barbara's Statue. The artwork created by artist Nana Lye, pays respect to the Patron Saint of Miners and symbolises her protection of those who work in the mining industry.

You can also view one of the largest First Nations Public Art Displays in Western Australia. From wall murals to 3D sculptures to carefully created soundtracks from the Goldfields. Find out more about the artists and the key features of St Barbara's Square below.
