One of the largest First Nations public art displays in WA

This project is part of the redevelopment of the Kal City Centre, which seeks to revitalise and transform the Kalgoorlie Central Business district into a vibrant and welcoming place for residents and visitors alike.

The First Nations Art Project will be one of the largest public displays of First Nations art in Western Australia, featuring the work of local and regional artists from various communities. The project is intended to celebrate the unique cultural heritage of the region's First Nations people and to create a greater sense of community and connection among all who call Kalgoorlie-Boulder home.

About the KCC First Nations Art Project

This initiative will showcase the rich and diverse culture of First Nations people in Western Australia through a public art display.

The art display will feature a range of styles, including contemporary and traditional pieces, and will incorporate a diverse range of media, such as sculpture, painting, and mixed media. The artworks will be displayed in prominent public spaces throughout the city centre where they will be visible and accessible to all.

The project is being developed in close collaboration with local First Nations communities and artists, ensuring that the project is respectful and authentic in its representation of culture and traditions. The project also reflects the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder's commitment to reconciliation and the recognition of First Nations peoples' rights, cultures, and histories.

A welcoming place for all

We are proud to celebrate the diversity and creativity of Western Australia's First Nations peoples and their enduring legacy in this region through this project.

This project is rooted in the belief that art can be a powerful tool for cultural expression, connection, and healing. By showcasing the artistic talents of First Nations peoples, we hope to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of their rich cultural heritage among all Australians.

We are excited to share this project with the wider community and hope that it will serve as a platform for ongoing dialogue, learning, and understanding between First Nations peoples and the wider Australian community.

We invite you to explore our site to learn more about our project, the artists and communities involved, and the impact we hope to have on promoting the recognition and celebration of First Nations culture in Western Australia.
