Connecting Local Businesses with Contractors

15 September 2020

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is offering local tradespeople, contractors and businesses an opportunity to connect with potential lead contractors for the Kal City Centre Project at a series of networking events next week.

CEO John Walker said the City would be hosting eight major contractors, split over the course of two days, for a mandatory site visit as part as the Expression of Interest (EOI) process for the project construction.

“We want to make sure that local contractors and trades have the opportunity to be part of the Kal City Centre Project, to really ensure that the project fulfils its brief regarding the grass roots economic transformation of our City,” Mr Walker said.

“The potential lead contractors will be scored on their local engagement strategy as part of the EOI criteria, so we want to encourage as many local contractors as possible, including local Aboriginal businesses, to come along and engage with them.

“This event is not just limited to those in the construction industry – we want to connect these major companies with everyone from construction and demolition to skilled tradies to hospitality and accommodation providers, to ensure the benefits of this project are shared across our community.

“If you’re considering coming along, you’d need to prepare a short pitch describing what your business does, and prepare a more formal business capability statement that you can give out to the potential lead contractors, so they know what you have to offer,” he said.

“Kalgoorlie-Boulder has a great depth and variety of skills in its local businesses, trades and contractors, and we want to connect all of these people with the companies who may be on our Tender shortlist.”

Networking Session One will be held on Tuesday, 22 September from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, and Session Two will be held on Thursday 24 September from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Both sessions will be at the Goldfields Arts Centre.

Local contractors are encouraged to attend both nights and must register their interest by Monday, 21 September by emailing mailbag@ckb.wa.gov.au or calling 9021 9899.
