The students from the John Paul College will be out and about in Hannan Street tomorrow filming material for the Kal City Centre transformation project ahead of its website launch next week. City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder CEO John Walker said the transformation project was about developing a main street experience with a diverse offering of destinations and experiences for residents and visitors. “Our City Centre is transforming. With significant public and private investment now on the table, it is the perfect time for local people to share their ideas on how to return the City Centre to a thriving heart of economic, cultural and physical activity,” he said. “This is more than a beautification project. Authentic engagement with people who shop, work, play and do business in our city centre will unearth what is most needed to breathe new life into our main streets, businesses and public spaces.” Mr Walker said the commencement of the project presented an ideal opportunity to partner with the Year 10 media students from John Paul College in an initiative to capture the mood on the streets as the project commenced. “We want to embrace the young people of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and involve them in this exciting journey towards transformation. “The students will be asking people to share what they love about the Kalgoorlie City Centre, and what ideas they have for the future potential for the area, and the end product will feature on the project website and will be used throughout the engagement process throughout April and as the project continues. “Everyone should keep an eye out for different and interesting things popping up all over the City Centre over the next few weeks. You may already have seen the powder-coated pot plant bins in Hannan Street, and tomorrow we’ll be adding even more colour to the streets.”
