City Calls for Tenders for Detailed Design

16 August 2019

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is calling for tenders for the next stage of the Kal City Centre project. Requests for tenders have now been advertised for the detailed design of the CBD transformation, which will incorporate Hannan Street, St Barbara’s Square and St Barbara’s Laneway, and the potential development of Cassidy Common.

City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder CEO John Walker said the City was looking for a firm with recognized experience and a diverse skill set, with an expectation that they will take on board the community input and themes from the Place Plan.

“It’s really important that they carry on with the hard work that has already been done, and capture the community input and feedback into the plan so far,” he said.

“The tenderer will need to encompass architectural elements, varied engineering disciplines, communications, landscaping, heritage and disability access into their pitch, as these are all elements that we believe are going to be crucial to creating a vibrant social, retail and economically viable City Centre.

“There has been extensive engagement carried out for this project, and last year when we presented the Place Plan it was really well received. We appreciate that this project has been rolling out over a number of years, but with so many complex and critical elements in play we needed to make sure we were getting it right from the get go.

“Part of creating a viable City Centre is looking at how we can increase local capacity building and Aboriginal employment and economic development, this is also in line with the State’s Aboriginal Procurement Policy.”

Requests for Tenders for the Detailed Design Stage of the Kal City Centre Project close at 2pm on Thursday 19 September.
