Ertech Pty Ltd Appointed as Preferred Tenderer for Kal City Centre Construction

28 January 2021

The Kal City Centre Project has reached an important milestone with the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder endorsing Ertech Pty Ltd (Ertech) as the preferred tenderer to undertake construction works.

At its’ Ordinary Council Meeting on 27 January, City Councillors unanimously endorsed Ertech as the preferred tenderer for the Project ahead of shortlisted firms Cooper & Oxley and MG Group.

A multi-award winning business, Ertech has experience working across Australia with previous projects including the Rockingham Beach Foreshore Revitalisation, South Hedland Town Centre Redevelopment and the Koombana Bay Foreshore Construction.

City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder CEO John Walker said Ertech emerged as the highest ranked firm following an extensive evaluation process including a review by the City’s appointed architects, Aspect Studios Pty Ltd, and their consultant team.

“We received three excellent submissions through the two-stage tendering process. Ertech stood out because of their genuine engagement to resource the project with as many local suppliers and contractors as possible,” said Mr Walker.

“They spent time with businesses in the region to devise a Local Industry Engagement Plan and Aboriginal Engagement Strategy to ensure the economic benefits of the project continue long after the construction phase has ended.

Ertech CEO James Giumelli said the company’s extensive experience in community infrastructure development, and their early foundation of strong collaboration, will deliver valued social and economic benefits to the community.

“We are delighted to be entrusted by the City to revitalise the heart of the CBD, creating safe, functional and engaging spaces for people to come together,” said Mr Giumelli.

The City will now enter into negotiations with Ertech before awarding the final construction contract for works to commence in the coming months.

The $16 million project, co-funded by an $8 million investment by the State Government, is due for completion in early-2023.
