Senior citizens residing in Kalgoorlie-Boulder are invited to a Senior’s Afternoon Tea next week to have a say in what services matter most to them.

Hosted by the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, the event will be held at 1pm, Tuesday 23 August at the Eastern Goldfields Community Centre.

At the event, seniors (aged over 55) will be asked to complete a survey providing feedback on current services and activities available in the city.

Survey responses, and outcomes from other consultations conducted by City, will inform a future report to Council reviewing the City’s current services, and include recommendations based on the City’s capacity to support additional services or activities.

Mayor John Bowler said the City has heard the community’s sentiment about current services for seniors and will work with all stakeholders to ensure the feedback received is considered and acted upon.

“Holding an in-person consultation event with seniors in our community is important for the City. Their valuable feedback will inform and guide future decisions, based on what is working well, what needs improvement, and what new services are needed” Mayor Bowler said.

“Following the consultation, the City will hold a round table discussion to present the key findings of the consultation with State and Federal Government agencies and other local service providers”.

“We’re confident that this process will see us work together as government departments with local agencies and stakeholders to ensure our seniors have what they need in order to live a happy, healthy life in our community,” he said.

Seniors attending the event will also be asked to provide feedback on the City’s Public Health Plan and what events and programs they would like the City to offer.

Seniors unable to attend the event are encouraged to provide their feedback online on the City’s community consultation platform CKB Unearthed. – https://yoursay.ckb.wa.gov.au/seniors

Family and caregivers are welcome to attend the event or to assist their senior in completing a survey response. Prior registration is not required to attend the event.
