4 August 2023

Youth Week

Youth Week in Kalgoorlie-Boulder was officially opened by the WA Minister for Youth, Hon. Simone McGurk MLA, at Kingsbury and Lord Forrest Parks on 14 April 2023. During this occasion, the Minister also announced the commencement of the detailed design phase for the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Youth Precinct project.

The City successfully obtained a $2.1 million State Government election commitment early in the year, which will play a crucial role in transforming Kingsbury Park into a vibrant and contemporary youth precinct. The envisioned precinct will feature a host of exciting amenities, including a state-of-the-art pump track, a versatile multipurpose court, a dynamic parkour and activity zone, as well as essential ablution facilities. The addition of soft landscaping will further enhance the appeal of the precinct, providing a welcoming and attractive environment for young people to gather and engage in various activities.

The project's concept has been thoughtfully crafted through extensive consultation with the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Youth Council and other regional youth representatives. By involving the voices of the young community, the project aims to address the specific needs and desires of the youth, ensuring that the youth precinct becomes a space truly tailored to their interests and aspirations.
