The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder will receive $2.1M in funding from Lotterywest for the Kingsbury Park Youth Precinct Development as announced by Premier Cook today.

The milestone six-million-dollar project will see the transformation of Kingsbury Park into a purpose-built precinct for young people over the next 18 months.

In addition to the City’s $1.83M and Lotterywest’s $2.1M contributions, the Youth Precinct Development is also supported by the State Government as part of a $2.1M election commitment.

Developed designs were presented as part of the official opening of this year’s Youth Week, where residents and community stakeholders were able to view the design in more detail and walk through the site with the project team.

Acting Youth Mayor Braydon Donnell said the new Lotterywest funding will now enable proposed aspects of the design to proceed.

“We are pleased Lotterywest has acknowledged the significance and importance of this development for our community, particularly the positive impact it will have on young people and families.”

“We can’t wait to see it all come together and become an improved and thriving hub for youth.”

Mayor John Bowler said this milestone multi-million-dollar project will complement the Kal City Centre Precinct in revitalising the Kalgoorlie Central Business District and enhance the liveability of our city.

“It will also support the building of new all-access toilet amenities, an accessible swing zone, as well as a multi-purpose store and kiosk,” said Mayor Bowler.

General Manager Grants & Community Development Lorna Pritchard said Lotterywest’s $2.1M grant aims to grow community connection in Kalgoorlie.

“This grant is supporting the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder to create an inclusive space, targeting the need to develop safe spaces for young people in Kalgoorlie,” Ms Pritchard said.

The City will soon open tender opportunities for stage one of the project and is planning for construction works to commence on-site in September this year.
