Retail in the City

In January 2021, the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder was issued an approved variation by the Minister of Commerce.

This resulted in general retail shops being able to trade on Sundays and public holidays between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. These new trading hours have been widely accepted by the community and are a major success in supporting local businesses.

In 2024, the City conducted a survey to gather feedback from the community and businesses and assess whether trading hours should be maintained, expanded, or reduced. The results of this survey were approved in August 2024 and can be found below.
