The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is calling local families to take part in a short survey to gather vital information about early childhood education and care needs in the city.

The information received from this consultation will assist the City with understanding current needs and inform research efforts geared towards advocating for early childhood education and care services in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

The information collated will be provided to the Goldfields Early Childhood Education and Care Roundtable, a collaborative group consisting of local stakeholders including the Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission (GEDC), Central Regional TAFE, Child Australia, local childhood education and care service providers and local governments within the Goldfields region.

This group, led by the GEDC, works together to find local solutions to increase the availability and access to early childhood education and care services.

City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Mayor, John Bowler, passionately urges families to make their voices heard by taking the survey.

“We understand the challenges faced by families when seeking care, and this vital consultation will provide a greater understanding so we can work together with local stakeholders to take concrete steps advocating for this service in our city,” Mayor Bowler said.

“Early childhood education and care providers are doing a fantastic job, but there is a skills shortage, and we need to work together to make sure this issue remains top of mind when finding solutions.”

“In addition, the survey seeks to understand the impact the waiting is having on families, considering factors such as financial or emotional implications.”

The five-question survey offers participants the chance to win a $150 Kal Dollar voucher, with three winners to be chosen at random once the survey closes, 3 September 2023.
